What should I do when a member says ,"I'll take it and backs out because he can't get to the bank for a personal check or money order "? I've been waiting for a month and today he backs out. gaah

Nothing. Put it back up for sale.

In future it would be a good idea to put some payment terms on what ever you are selling. "If payment not received within (so many days, somewhere in the 3-7 days is usually good) item will be re-listed". I never consider an item sold until I have the money in my account. As Ed said, there probably isn't much you can do about this sale, but hopefully you can protect yourself more in future transaction. Any of us who have been doing this for a while know what your going through. I had this kind of thing happen on some guitars early on. It can be a real let down. Best thing you can do is make sure it doesn't happen in the future.

It's only an issue if you shipped the goods before payment was made.

This appears to be more non-buy rather then non-payment. As others have said........limit time and back on the market. You control the process rather then buyer.

You know Guido? I'd send Guido after him. Is it anything that I don't need? Maybe I'd take it.

This is where PayPal, for all its faults, is handy. I don't consider an item sold until the money arrives via PayPal, and I don't sell things to people who don't use PayPal.

What can u do? You still have the item, right? So relist. Stuff like this happens. Thankfully not the norm. Post count matters with trust. I'll tend towards more skepticism with low post count folks. Yes, that's not a terribly positive thing to say, but I never have had issues with long timers

I have found for the largest part that OLFers are good business people

Mail the guy a goat with no return address. The goat will eat everything he owns. That will teach him! Or her!

Things happen. Just start all over. Remember what went down but forgive but don't forget
